The question I’m asking myself at 32 and maybe you are too
Bonjour from Paris! Yes, I’ve returned!
I’m about to turn 32 and am preparing to live in Paris for the long-term.
I got into French school and am trying it out for a few weeks before beginning the year course later this year.
In between classes, I’ve been exploring Arrondissements to see which one offers the most and is a short commute to school. So far, I’m loving the 17th and 4th, but I think it will come down to which one has the best boulangerie and yoga studio because in my Paris life, those things matter!
I realise that by 32, I will have quite literally travelled the world solo, teaching yoga and business and have even found myself wondering:
Who am I outside of travelling the world?
Who am I outside of teaching yoga?
Who am I when I’m not teaching women how to run businesses they love?

Although I don’t have all of those answers yet, what I deeply know is…
I am ready for a brand new chapter of Rooted Ascension in Paris.
There is nothing I want more than to have a long-term life with nowhere to go but outside my balcony with a view of the Eiffel Tower, and of course the essentials that include a pet cat, a pink record player that plays Taylor Swift music, and an extra bedroom for all the vintages clothes I’ve accumulated from my travels.
Then it hit me today that the only reason I am where I’m at and with a world of opportunities behind me is because I said YES to my dreams, job opportunities, clients, and global experiences that unexpectedly led me to PARIS.
Today though, I want to share with you what happened when I said YES to a dream job in Chicago.
I was barely 22 and had just moved to the city and cluelessly showed up to a yoga teaching audition with a fitness influencer owned studio. I did not do great at my audition and was still offered the teaching job then almost immediately had to pause my classes because I was offered a teaching position at Boom Festival in Portugal for one week.
I HOPPED ON A PLANE FROM CHICAGO TO PORTUGAL.
Taught yoga at the festival for one week, then returned to Chicago
Just for the studio owner (and Fitness Influencer) to take me to Lunch to tell me how impressed she was with me for doing that, then offered me the Executive Assistant role of her Fitness Influencer company and Assistant Manager role of her studio.
I was shocked because:
1. I thought I was being fired since I left the country for a last minute teaching gig
2. And two I had simultaneously learned that by saying YES to one opportunity, it landed me TWO others.
I had no idea how I was going to make it all happen when this first started.
I had put my teaching gig in Portugal on a credit card then immediately after was offered two jobs at once that paid off and provided years of opportunities and connections that later…
Led me to Boston to manage two of the largest yoga studios in the nation which led me to Portugal to open my first yoga studio which led me to London which introduced me to an Astrology Professor who told me my purpose was Paris and well…
Here I am.
Paris.
A place that I am finally ready to call home.
All because I said YES to a teaching job in Chicago 10 years ago.
I get emotional sharing that story because this is my real life and even on the hard days when I don’t understand the language or have the flu (current reality) I get to remember that because I said YES to myself and dream opportunities, I now get to live my dreamiest life in Paris.
Although I don’t have it all figured out today (who does?) I know I’m on my path and I am genuinely happy to BE HERE.
